When blending two families into one, things can get rather stressful. Not only do you have to worry about all of the members of each family, but you also have to worry about all of their stuff. How do you make two family's worth of things fit into one house? Can you get rid of some stuff? Should you hold onto the things that aren't really needed? Renting A Storage Unit? 2 Ways To Use The Vertical Space Inside

While getting ready to rent a storage unit, you may start to think about how you can make use of all the available space inside. Using the space beginning from the floor and going a few feet up should not be hard because all you need to do is stack a couple boxes and you are finished.

Even putting a large piece of furniture inside will often use this much space alone. While you may feel confident about using some of the storage space, you should learn about everything that you can do to utilize all the vertical space that you may often find being unused in storage units.

Shelving Units

If you take a few sturdy boxes that are packed well, you may be able to put them on top of each other until you stop at a point before the stack becomes unstable. A better option for filling up vertical space is to invest in shelving units that you can assemble and set up inside the unit. This will provide you with a similar process to what a homeowner may do in their own garage.

When you want to make it as easy as you can to use space all the way to the ceiling, you should make sure to pick up tall shelving units that almost span just as high. This will allow you to stack a couple of boxes on the top shelf before you touch the ceiling with the top of the last box.

Furniture

While storing furniture is something that you may intend on doing, you should not underestimate the importance of the storage process. Instead of storing a fully assembled furniture piece in the same way that you have it normally set up inside your home, you should set it up vertically.

This is something that you can also do when you disassemble furniture pieces before bringing them inside. For instance, you may have long furniture legs that you can sit upright instead of on their side. Another option is taking all the cushions that you are storing from both sofas and recliners and stacking them on top of each other with the largest cushions on the bottom.

If you make use of these tips immediately after renting a storage unit from a nearby facility, you can look forward to optimizing usage by filling in the vertical space through a couple different methods.
